Two years ago my family and I spent Easter all together in Paris and being the daughter of a Museologist graduate, my mother was sure to arrange for all of us to see Lucien Freud's opening show at the Pompidou Centre "Freud: L'Atelier" that is, before we had even touched Parisisan ground. I must confess that, that particular afternoon stuck with me ever since... How grand is Freud? How much can a line on someone's face tell? How deep is an unknown, raw and talented brush? Can he truly mirror their soul when they strike a pose? You are about to find out...As part of the Cultural Olympian London festival for 2012, a never seen before Lucian Freud exhibition takes place at the National Portrait Gallery. (Starting in February). Bringing together a selection of his most famous works, covering seven decades of the world´s most celebrated and distinctive portraiture career of all painters. More than 100 works filling most of the ground floor gallery space, this is the first major show to focus on Freud's portrait work, and it had been planned in close partnership with the artist himself, who died aged 88 in July last year. London calling, I say. Happy Tuesday Clippers xx
