Swedish smart designer Ake Axelsson Ferdinand's latest chair creation is one of the most clever, classic meets cool pieces I have seen in a long time. Inspired by 20th century flawless furniture from his own country, Ferdinand used beech oak as frames and ecologically tanned leather for both the back and the seat of the chair which folds about 80 per cent, a tremendous achivement as far as saving on a normal transportation volume (packaging and storage space) is concerned. This autumn we get to see aclaimed Garsnas manufactures putting Ferdinand into production, so if you are into design, moving anytime soon or just looking for something new - now you know it.
CLIP-IT: About design, read this months's Monocle (N46) Macdonald's short article on how everyone has "design" in their job title nowadays...hilarious, so true and so beautifully writen (page 142).
