CLIP OF THE DAY: The ART connector
YESTERDAY:
As expected: COLDPLAY live - just mind-blowing - they definately still have it! Unexpected: James Blake (first time I have ever heard him) Really cool - You might want to CLIP-it and look out for his next gig. (I am...)!
TODAY:
On to something closer to home (in some many ways). As some of you might already know - I majored in Fine Arts at Sotheby's in London, and despite not having chosen a career in the art world, my eyes and clips arestill to this day fixed on what's the latest on exhibitions and interesting auctions around. On the 20 and 21st of July, an extraordinary collection of more than 800 lots from the Madrid home and the Trujillo country house of legendary interior decorator Duarte Pinto Coelho will be offered for sale at Christie's.
Talk about CONNECTIONS: The late Duarte Pinto Coelho was born in Portugal, moving to Paris as a young man, where he became friends with the likes of Coco Chanel, Elsa Schiaparelli and Salvador Dalí, among others. In the 1950s, he chose Madrid as his new home and there he started an antiques business that soon led to him becoming the first and most renowned decorator in the country.A refined man, collecting was his passion and both his residences were adorned with a wealth of furniture, works of art. Well his "passion" as a whole is estimated around £1.5 million...!
Like I quoted on Connect's website: Take your pleasures seriously.
Malinha's CLIP (dear friend and his great niece): This month's Vogue (Spanish edition) where they feautred an article on Duarte Pinto Coelho's life.
